Living Green is Living Life

Promoting the good governance of natural resources

Our History

Living Green is Living Life

Founded in 2016, MIGAU was born from a deep concern about Uganda’s alarming rates of deforestation and the urgent need for action. A passionate group of environmentalists, conservationists, and local leaders united to create a grassroots movement that puts community participation at the heart of climate action.

Operating in biodiversity hotspots like Budongo, Mabira, and Maragambo Forest Reserves, MIGAU works directly with rural communities, ensuring that reforestation, clean energy, and sustainable livelihoods go hand in hand.

At Make It Green Again Uganda (MIGAU), we believe that environmental restoration is not just about trees—it’s about people, purpose, and planet. Since 2016, we’ve been empowering communities across Uganda to take the lead in protecting forests, preserving biodiversity, and building sustainable futures.

We are a community-based environmental organization dedicated to promoting the good governance of natural resources through education, reforestation, policy advocacy, and clean energy solutions.

Chairman’s Message

Dear Team,
I trust this message finds you well.
As we continue to move forward with our Climate Change Initiative in Uganda, it is important to reflect on the goals that will guide our actions and help us create tangible, long-term impact. Our objectives have been carefully crafted to not only address the urgent challenges of climate change but to also foster a culture of sustainability, resilience, and innovation within Uganda and beyond.
I am proud to share these core objectives of the initiative, which will shape our programs, strategies, and partnerships over the coming years. Each of these areas is critical to both climate mitigation and adaptation, and they are designed to empower local communities, businesses, and institutions to take meaningful action.

Our Key Objectives:
1. Establish Partnerships with Local Communities by Promoting Afforestation Initiatives
2. Promote Educational Programs on the Importance of Tree Planting
3. Promote Public Awareness to Reduce Single-Use Plastics
4. Establish Composting Initiatives in Urban Regions
5. Carry On the Business of Water-Saving Technologies
Establish Incentives for Businesses and Households to Invest in Renewable Energy Infrastructure
6. Foster Collaboration with Local Farmers and Landowners to Promote Sustainable Land Use Practices

Moving Forward Together:
As we progress with the development and implementation of this initiative, your collective expertise and collaboration will be key. Our objectives are ambitious, but they are essential for building a sustainable future for Uganda and its people. Each of these objectives is interconnected, and together, they provide a holistic approach to climate action—combining environmental restoration with community engagement, education, and innovation.
I am confident that with your dedication, creativity, and collective effort, we will make significant strides in achieving these goals. Let us remain focused on these objectives, ensuring that our work has both immediate and long-lasting impacts on the ground.

Next Steps:
Strategic Planning: We will be meeting shortly to begin planning specific projects, partnerships, and actions under each of these objectives.
Program Development: Each of you will play a crucial role in shaping the details of the programs and ensuring they are aligned with the needs of local communities.
Partnerships and Funding: Identifying and securing funding and partnerships for these initiatives will be a priority. We will also work on outreach to local businesses, governmental bodies, and international organizations to support our efforts.

Let us move forward with purpose and a shared vision of creating a more sustainable, resilient Uganda. I look forward to collaborating with all of you to make this initiative a success.

Warm regards,
Vincent Nawezo
